The rapid economic growth since 1978 has transformed China in many aspects. China’s economy has overtaken Japan and become the second largest in the world; China became the largest exporter by surpassing Germany in 2009; and its official foreign exchange reserve now exceeds US$ 2.4 trillion, the largest in the world for many years. To explore the role of financial industry and macroeconomic policy in promoting the transformation of China’s economy from export-led growth mode to those of developed countries led by domestic demand, especially how to utilize private capital in promoting economic growth and accelerating industrial restructuring and at the same time generate optimal returns.
